Policies
  • No smoking and no pets  (some of us have pretty severe alllergies);
  • Arrivals: Sunday at 3:00 pm  and Departures Sunday at 12 noon
  • Bring your linens, towels & disposables. Please leave some toilet paper in each bath. Nothing like running in with a full tank and no paper!;
  • The keys are located in a lockbox on the front door and the combination is provided with the invoice. There are three sets of keys in the lock box. We strongly encourage you to always leave one set in the lockbox, in case you get locked out of the house;
  • We collect a security deposit for all reservations, which is added to your invoice.  If there are no problems, the deposit is returned within 30 days of your rental.
  • Cleaning: Because only friends and family use the house, we don't hire a professional cleaning crew or maid service, so we ask that you leave the house the way you would expect to find it.  This helps to keep our costs down and yours. You'll need to allow some time for cleaning on the day you leave:
    • Sweep and mop the floors
    • Clean bathrooms
    • Remove food and trash
    • Empty the refrigerator and freezer (yes, even the condiments)
    • During the week, please put the city trash and recycle containers at the curb according to the schedule on the refrigerator and then return them to the storage area after they are emptied.

TV and Wi-Fi

The house has Wi-Fi and a smart TV, but no Cable TV service. You can bring your streaming device to watch the programs you are accustomed to. (Don't forget to take it home too!) Alternatively, you can log into your accounts through the apps on the TV, but remember to log out before you leave, so that no one else has access to your information.

Downstairs Closet

For safety, small children must not enter. You may use whatever you find there, but we don't guarantee what will be there. Typically, there are lots of chairs, some toys, some rafts. There is a charcoal grill and some charcoal. With this closet we use family rules:

  • If it breaks because of something you did, replace it
  • If it breaks because it wore out, throw it out (but let us know)
  • If you use it up, replace it.
  • If it is not there, it is not your lucky Day.

Parking in Oak Island

The Town of Oak Island has implemented paid parking from 9-5 (April 1-September 30 only). If you park within our property this is not an issue. Just make sure you are not in the public right of way. We have found this not to be an issue, as you can easily walk to the beach from our house. You can get more information at: https://www.oakislandnc.gov/residents-visitors/parking-information

On The Beach

Be sure to remove all your beach equipment from the beach by sunset, or the city confiscate it. Look for the high tide lines and know which way it is going if you are leaving your things for a while.. It is useful to download a tide app.
